The latest installment of the now legendary TOPHOTELWORLDTOUR event recently took place in Berlin on the 8th of March. Some of the brightest stars and the biggest talents in the hospitality industry were in attendance. We take a look inside the day-long event.

2018 gets off to a great start in Berlin

The conference held on the 8th of March in Berlin’s Pullman Berlin Schweizerhof hotel was the first TOPHOTELWORLDTOUR event of 2018. Delegates from all around the world gathered in the German capital to take part in a day-long event that included networking sessions, panel discussions and the ever-popular Creative Spark design competition. Attendees spanned the board across all sectors of the hospitality industry, from operations, supply and investment to architecture and design. Participants arrived early to the recently refurbished Pullman Berlin Schweizerhof hotel, which itself was included in the Creative Spark section, and got straight into their first networking session that followed the welcome address and reception.

Networking, connections and fun

Many of the participants were quick to praise the style in which the event was organised. Omer Isvan, president of Servotel, said that he liked how “you get to meet people not accidentally, but in an organised fashion, with people you may not otherwise meet. Then it becomes and eye-opener.” He added that compared to many hotel conferences, which revolve around big brands trying to sell you their services, that the TOPHOTELWORLDTOUR event was more knowledge-based, with in-depth panel discussions taking on issues such as “Tech it or leave it: How to tackle hotel cost management?”, and keynote presentations about the German hotel market.

Andrea Belfanti, executive director for the International Society of Hospitality Consultants, considers herself a professional conference attendee, and said that she loved the networking aspects of the event and lauded the high quality of the content. She said that she learned some new networking tips that she will be putting into practice and that the round table networking sessions were a great opportunity to connect with other industry professionals. Navneet Bali, chairman of Meninger Hotels, was delighted with the opportunity to meet so many people in the fields of technology and design, who, from his perspective, could be potential new contacts for his fast growing company, which is in the process of building 15 new hotels.

Don’t miss out on the upcoming TOPHOTELWORLDTOUR events in 2018, which will be taking place in Dubai, Singapore, London, Hong Kong, New York and Vienna throughout the year.
