Creative Spark 1

Hôtel Le Scribe Paris

The iconic hotel Le Scribe has long been a part of the heartbeat of Paris, once situated amidst the bustling nightlife of the Opéra Garnier during the Second Empire—when it was the seat of the Jockey Club. An institution of Parisian opulence and brilliant artistry, Le Scribe began an extensive, three-phase renovation in April 2018, led by Tristan Auer, Principal at Wilson Associates. Set to be completed in February 2020, the Wilson team is restoring the hotel to its former glory, drawing inspiration from its historic setting. The hotel, which has remained open throughout its transformation, aims to embody the spirit of Paris by emphasising its core assets, namely its location in the Opéra district, as well as its new interiors and food & beverage offering.

Since its construction in 1863, Le Scribe’s walls have echoed the conversations, encounters, and laughter witnessed throughout history. Recalling that rich legacy, Tristan and his team at Wilson Associates created a design scheme that places guests at the center of Le Scribe’s spirit, creating a thoroughly Parisian experience. Moreover, Le Scribe’s interiors revive the intense ambiance of Paris nightlife centered around the Opéra Garnier during the Second Empire, when it was the seat of the Jockey Club. The design team skilfully recreated the spirit of a “men’s club” with subtle, refined touches. To contrast with the masculine side, the hotel renovation features guestrooms and a tearoom that are more feminine, angelic, and sensitive while revisiting the mood of a Haussmannian apartment typical of Paris.

The Barcelona EDITION

Located opposite the old medieval market square in the Santa Caterina neighborhood, the project consolidates the urban transformation of Ciutat Vella, which has led to the modernization of the historic center of Barcelona, while meeting the requirements of the operator of the new Barcelona Edition hotel, Ian Schrager, creator in the 1970s of New York’s iconic Studio 54.

The new project posits a change of use for the existing office building, along with complete rehabilitation of the spaces inside, by building a new skin that results from the tension between the new typology and the urban spaces surrounding the building.

The singularity of the building is recognized through the elimination of the corner in the preexisting building and the creation of a chamfer. The building interacts with the piazza and acquires its public image, at the same time as it recognizes the presence of the market from the entrance to Calle Freixures.

Creative Spark 3

Kimpton Hotel Barcelona

The design of the different spaces of the hotel brings a local sense of place to the project, emphasizing both Barcelona and the neighbourhood where is located: the Barrio Gotico, the oldest and one of the most charming areas of the city.
