Autocamp Yosemite

AutoCamp, Yosemite, is a modern and stylish outdoor hotel experience that makes connecting with the great outdoors easy for everyone. The site, which includes five 280-square-foot ADA suites, fits right in within the “glamping” trend that has flipped traditional camping as we know it, on its head. Through offering this alternative method of sleeping outdoors, campers are able to both enjoy luxury accommodations as well as the natural beauty around them. In this way, visitors can escape the hustle and bustle of urban life without sacrificing modern comforts.

Although each suite is compact, clever spatial planning and minimalist design packs in both style and amenities equivalent to a 5-Star boutique hotel experience. Accommodating a luxury experience within a smaller square footage is a practice in strategic design and also proves that you don’t need a massive space to feel pampered. Inspired by mid-century modernity, the high-end design has a contemporary flair, featuring classic lines and materials including natural woods, metals, and marble for a touch of old-world luxe. The neutral color palette of black, white, grey, and varying shades of brown seamlessly connects the interior with the exterior.

Like any hotel experience, comfort is key, and M-Rad’s design delivers it in spades. Each of the suites is outfitted with air conditioning; a European bathroom with a modern shower; a queen size bed with  custom skylight overhead for stargazing at night; integrated speakers; Apple TV; and a full kitchen with a stove, sink, fridge, and microwave. The kitchen casework transitions into the living space and custom storage solutions which are integrated into the framework of the unit.

Strand & Pier

A tranquil refuge from downtown Los Angeles; Strand & Pier in Hermosa Beach captivates with distinct expressions of playful sophistication and exemplifies the blending and layering of architectural elements and eclectic cultural nuances.

Amenities at this courtyard roof deck include a bar, guest outdoor lounge and splash pool, rooms with lushly planted patios, and a VIP lounge with a fire pit at the bar area overlooking the Strand and beach beyond. Continuing up, guests arrive at the rooftop bar, a publicly-accessible open/flexible event space with dramatic, sweeping views of the Santa Monica Mountains and Manhattan Beach to the north, Redondo Beach and Palos Verdes to the south, and unobstructed views over the Pacific Ocean to the west.

The project is situated at the historical, cultural, and social heart of the city and draws its design inspiration from much that is unique to Hermosa Beach. The massing takes its cues from jazz notions of syncopated rhythms and soloists trading 4’s, riffing off Hermosa’s rich history of promoting west coast jazz; the scale of the building elements relate to the verticality of the building fabric along Pier Avenue and the horizontality of the Strand; surf aesthetics are incorporated in the façade’s asymmetrical and two-tone wood elements; and the spirit of the hotel is derived from a ‘fun is good’ attitude, where relaxation and innovation are not mutually exclusive.

Hotel Amarano – Burbank

Steaming from the girls’ name ‘Amara’ meaning grace, mercy and kindness, the Amarano hotel will exude the qualities of its namesake by offering guests an elegant, graceful retreat. Stepping in to Hotel Amarano is like stepping into Amara`s home. Feels familiar, surprises with the unexpected and makes you giggle with peculiar details.

Hotel Amarano, with Amara`s vision is highly inspired by the spirit of Hollywood`s famous – or perhaps infamous` `Garden of Allah` a private retreat owned by Alla Nazimova, former silent movie actress during the 1920s. Amara feels connected to Nazimova. She honors the spirit of `Garden of Allah`, celebrates the idea of a `private retreat` and makes sure everyone finds a corner to relax, detach and have fun in her house. She has a beautiful home, surrounded by ranches and studios. She gets her inspiration from the land of Burbank, history of its founder and its surroundings, her personal collectables from her travels and her love of flying.

Hotel Amarano is a home that celebrates southern California, a home that inspires her and everyone in it. A home that makes you want to write a book about, a home that gives you the freedom to be extraordinary.
