Tan Yee Pin
Jaya International Design
Pin pursued her degree in Architecture in the University of Oregon in 1986. Since, she has worked in the United States, France and now in her native Asia, based at Jaya International Design’s headquarters in Singapore – JID.
She has been privileged to have worked in a unique environment side by side with Ed Tuttle. A 23-year stint modest in number of projects but an experience wealthy in details, this environment has allowed her to grow and hone her craft patiently and diligently.
Outstanding design conception and space planning ensured that the programmatic needs were met and expectations exceeded and every detail from the architecture down to the last pillow carefully considered, executed and procured.
With Pin as the second in command, the studio headed by Ed has designed and realized major hospitality projects around the world, including a stunning collection of Aman Resorts, which were the point of intersection with JID.
In early 2016 the time came for Pin to try her own hand and the challenge was no less than becoming a Design Director at JID, perpetuating the legacy of the brilliant late designer Jaya Ibrahim, but to also help steer the studio in an exciting new direction.
Under Pin’s portfolio of ongoing JID projects is the highly anticipated Capella Shanghai, Jian Ye Li, a fantastic property in the heritage French Concession neighborhood, slated for opening this spring.
